Business Center Renovation:  Acquired $697,500 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the construction of an incubator, shell building, and/or demolition projects.  With the assistance of the Kanawha County Board of Education and Kanawha County Commission, the UKVEC took possession of the old Chelyan Elementary School to house a business and community center.  The first tenant moved in business center on April 30, 2002.  Currently, the Marine Corps League, churches, and several area youth basketball teams utilize the facility.  The building is approximately 31,000 square feet and will attract 12-16 businesses with employment between 150-200 persons.
